Make Your Own Yarrow Cream

YYarrow is a common wild plant characterized by its tiny white flowers that bloom from mid-summer to early autumn. This plant is native to the northern hemisphere, but nowadays it's found in all continents. Yarrow has been used for centuries in different healing potions due to its magical healing properties.

While the best time to harvest yarrow is in the summer, it's a splendid plant to use any time of the year due to its body-strengthening and cleansing properties. Yarrow has different benefits making it useful for internal use, such as dried herbal tea, alcohol extracts such as tinctures, or for external use like creams and oils due to its skin-care and healing properties.

Yarrow it's known to be a blood-strengthening plant, and it especially outstanding at healing wounds. Yarrow is also said to strengthen a person's aura making external disturbances, such as noise and environmental pollution not get through so easy. Some people feel a force field of protection from themselves so strongly that nothing can shake their inner world. Yarrow reminds one of their inner strength and power, and helps a person to live so that he does not waste his energy in unnecessary ways. Yarrow helps to treat the skin, heal wounds, and support blood circulation.

Yarrow Cream

Yarrow creams, salves and oils are commercially sold for different purposes like healing cuts, burns, rashes, and are also wonderful for massages. You can make your own yarrow cream at home with basic ingredients, for this you will need dried Yarrow, olive oil and beeswax. 

Directions

1. Place the dried Yarrow in a steel container and pour oil over it to cover the plants completely.

2. Place the steel container on top of a pot in a water bath. Place the pot on a hot plate to warm up. Allow the oil to heat up slowly for approx. 1-2 hours. Supervise the temperature as the oil should not boil.

3. Wait for the oil to cool down and strain by pouring it through a cotton cloth, squeezing the oil out of the plants by hand. The oil is ready to be used, but if you prefer to make a cream, follow the next step.

4. Weight the oil. Divide weight you get by four, and you'll know how much beeswax you will add to the oil. Add 1⁄4 of the oil's weight of beeswax and mix it with the oil.

5. Heat in a water bath, the mixture should be fully heated to melt the beeswax. Beeswax does not melt in too low a heat. When the wax has completely dissolved in the oil, you can pour the cream into small jars. The cream solidifies quickly. Allow the cream to set and cool before putting on lids.

Tip: Don't trow away the remaining yarrow, you can add it to a foot bath to make the most out of your herbs.
