How to Make Your Own Herbal Honey

“Kind words are like honey, sweet to the soul and healthy to the body."
Herbal honey can be a wonderful remedy for you and your family to keep at home, for when you need to boost your immune support, or as an amazing medicine for cough. The natural healing properties of honey can always act as a powerful support to your immune system during the fall and the colder months to come.
The herbal effects of the plants can be extracted into honey, and this is one wonderful and sweet way to enjoy the healing properties of plants. Especially aromatic and strongly flavoured plants like thyme, rose, lavender, mint, ginger or basil are very suitable for herbal honey. The herbal honey is made by using dried herbs, fresh herbs work as well but will not preserve as long as the dried ones.
How to make your own herbal honey
Put dried herbs in the jar, fill up to 1⁄3 of the jar and fill the rest with honey. Mix with spoon so that the herbs mix well with the honey. Let the herbs infuse for two to six weeks, and after this you can strain the herbs out of the honey, for example by heating the honey in a water bath first, to make it runnier. Or you can leave the herbs in the honey. Strained honey herbs can also be enjoyed afterwards for example in a tea.
