Don’t we all want to be our authentic self? Live our best life? Make our wildest, craziest dreams come alive? Sometimes, however, we might not even know what it is we want. Perhaps we are uncertain about where we see ourselves live, and what kind of life we are living.
With all the noise from social media it can be hard to tune into yourself and listen to your inner voice. What do you want? Social media is wonderful in so many ways, but it can also be a little hard to block out the noise and truly listen to your intuition.
Visualization is a great tool for tuning in and becoming clear on what kind of life you want to live. What your dreams are.
The thing is your mind understands words. Mantras for instance are wonderful for the mind. Your body, however, understands pictures. This means that if you say something like “I see myself having my own business and live on Bali” your mind will understand this, but your body won’t understand what this means.
When we visualize our body understands too, and this is key to living an authentic, happy life where your wildest dreams become a reality.
Let’s do a little visualization exercise.
Find a quiet place where you can sit undisturbed and come to a comfortable seated position (you can also sit in a chair, outside or whatever feels good to you). Place both hands over your heart, take a deep breath in, close your eyes, and exhale through the mouth.
Imagine that we’re well into 2022. Where are you living? Are you living alone or with someone else? What does your home look like? What kind of artwork do you have on the walls? What kind of food do you have in your kitchen? What are you wearing? Are you wearing nail polish? If so, which color? What does your hair look like? Makeup? What do you do for work? What do your mornings look like? Evenings? Weekends? How are you spending your time? Do you have a car? If so, which car? Do you travel? Where to? How do you feel?
Get as specific as possible. Hint, why I’m asking the color of your nail polish, your hair, which car you’re driving etc. When visualizing, get as specific as you can be. See the details. Also, don’t hold back. This is not the time to be super realistic. Allow yourself to truly tap into your deepest dreams, desires and hopes. Also, see if you can really feel how you want to feel in your body. Don’t just visualize it. Feel it.
If you want to take this to the next step, then create a vision board. Grab glitter, scissors, glue, colorful pencil and get creative. Put anything that makes you feel connected to your visualization on the vision board. Remember: Your body understands pictures.
Now, of course you also have to actually put in the work to make your visualization come true. But visualizing what kind of life you see yourself living is the very first step. You can do visualizations as often as you need in order to stay connected to your wildest dreams and desires.
Let 2022 be the year you step into your light and live your most authentic, happy and joyful life.
