8 Daily actions to boost your wellbeing

There is a lot of different ways you can take care of your health and wellbeing. It can be that extra glass of water for good hydration, a daily walk, or meeting up with a friend. We all need to find what works best for us and what we need in our everyday life. One thing that is the same for everyone is the importance of consistency. By doing small, daily actions for our wellbeing, we create a balanced everyday life, supporting our wellbeing. The goal is to make these small actions into habits, becoming a part of your everyday life. 

 

  1. Check-In With Yourself

 

Take a moment every day, preferably in the morning, to check in with yourself. How are you feeling today? How is your body, your mind? Are you tired or feeling energized? When we take the time to check in with ourselves, we become more aware of our state and energy levels that particular day. This, in turn, can help us to optimize what we give our body and mind that day. Do you need more rest? A calming walk with a good friend? The awareness can help us to boost our wellbeing where it is needed on that day. 

  

  1. Move Your Body 

 

Whether it is a short walk, a mellow yoga class, or a sweaty HIIT class, our bodies are made to move. When we work out, our bodies release the so-called feel-good hormone serotonin. The increased blood flow in the body also increases the number of oxygen, which makes us feel more energetic, fresh, and mentally active. As mentioned, a walk can be good enough. Don’t be too hard on yourself if you are feeling a bit tired – movement is supposed to make you feel good!

 

  1. Stay Hydrated

 

This is probably no news for you, but we shouldn't underestimate the power of drinking enough water. By staying hydrated, we help our bodies to stay alert and good. Dehydrating can lead to headaches, nausea and digestion problems, making it harder for our body to reach optimal wellbeing. 

 

 

  1. Sleep Enough  

 

While this may seem obvious, it pays to emphasize the important role sleep plays in our everyday life. When we don't get enough sleep, our body starts to release more of the stress hormone cortisol, which can negatively affect our overall wellbeing. To make sleep a priority the same way we make time for other important things in our life is important for good health. 

 

  1. Nourish Your Body 

 

A colorful diet helps us ensure that the body receives enough nutrition to stay healthy. Focus on eating lots of fruits and vegetables, enough fibers, healthy fats, and enough water. It is recommended to avoid too much caffeine, sugar, alcohol, and processed food. But, we believe that balance is the key, so it's okay to enjoy your chocolate bar or glass of wine every now and then without feeling guilty. A to strict diet won’t do any good for the soul!

 

  1. Be Social

 

Meet up with a good friend or connect with a new, like-minded person. A good laugh, feeling connected, and socializing with the right kind of people gives us energy and boosts our wellbeing. Did you know that it can even help to lower your stress levels? Connecting with people will support and enrich your life.

 

  1. Give

 

Do something nice for someone. It can be giving someone a smile, a nice comment, or volunteering yourself.  Whether it's a small or big thing, giving is rewarding.

 

  1. Be Present And Enjoy Life 

 

Often, we find ourselves running through our everyday life, forgetting to take in and enjoy the small things. Take a moment every day to focus on the present moment, being grateful for what you have. By maintaining the mind in the present, we are most likely to find calm and peace of mind. It is where we can be most in tune with our emotions, thoughts, and sensations. When the mind is focused on the present moment, it is not obsessing over what could have been or what might be about to come. It is a small thing that can, and will, make a big difference.
